Brian Wilson Associates offers support to Neighbourhood Plan groups, helping them plan and progress their work in ways which meet the requirements of the legislation and planning system.
Since 2012 communities have been able to produce statutory Neighbourhood Plans for their area, setting out policies that will be used to decide planning applications. By Autumn 2015 at least 1,500 communities were thought to have engaged actively with producing a Neighbourhood Plan (NP) and 100 had reached the referendum stage.
No community should under-estimate the effort and perseverance required to develop a successful plan. The reward, however, is more local say about the future of the locality and its development.
Brian and his associates can, amongst other things, help with: creating a project plan for the NP process; identifying and testing NP objectives; developing a sound evidence base; assessing policy options; checking that NP policies align with an area’s Local Plan and the national planning policy framework; producing a Consultation Statement; and drafting the NP document.
